Player tag

Player tag

So I noticed that after the update the player tags changed. Then yesterday I created a new account (which is after the update), it first got assigned a tag then it changed after about 10 lvls then today it changed back. Also I noticed that a player has the same tag as me.

Anyone know what exactly this tag is for? If it's used to identify players why is it constantly changing and can be the same between players?
